Apartments are self-contained residential units occupying part of a larger building. They are usually set out on a single storey of a building and it is for this reason that in some regions (UK, India etc.) they are referred to as "flats". The term apartment is one that is used extensively in Europe, North America and places that use American English. The term "flat" is used in the UK, India and places that use British English. Apartments or flats have their own front door, kitchen, toilet and bathroom. In some countries a 1-bedroom apartment may be advertised as a 1bhk or 1bhk flat. The term "bhk" or "BHK" refers to bedroom, hall and kitchen. This means that the unit would have 1 bedroom, a hall (lounge/sitting room) and kitchen.
Apartments can be found in residential blocks or towers and sometimes as a part of a villa where the floors have been separated each with its own entrance etc.
Al Messila is a district in the west of the municipality of Doha and shares its western border with Lebday and Old Al Rayyan (Al Rayyan City): two eastern districts of the municipality of Al Rayyan. The area is populated with mainly residential compounds, some large and gated with extensive facilities. The area also has plenty of schools to choose from. It is an area suitable in particular for families to find a home to rent either unfurnished or furnished as desired.
The area has good links for transport and the Al Shamal Road (Q1) otherwise known as the Doha Expressway, runs along the west side of the district separating it from the Al Rayyan municipality. Other main roads that run through the district are the Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street, Jassim Bin Hamad Street, 22 February Street, and the Al Rayyan Road which begins at Souq Waqif in Central Doha and later on merges into the Dukhan Highway (Q3) as it passes through the Al Shahaniya municipality and ends in the city of Dukhan in the west of Qatar by the coast.
