Apartments are self-contained residential units occupying part of a larger building. They are usually set out on a single storey of a building and it is for this reason that in some regions (UK, India etc.) they are referred to as "flats". The term apartment is one that is used extensively in Europe, North America and places that use American English. The term "flat" is used in the UK, India and places that use British English. Apartments or flats have their own front door, kitchen, toilet and bathroom. In some countries a 1-bedroom apartment may be advertised as a 1bhk or 1bhk flat. The term "bhk" or "BHK" refers to bedroom, hall and kitchen. This means that the unit would have 1 bedroom, a hall (lounge/sitting room) and kitchen.
A compound apartment can be defined as an apartment that is located within a residential compound or "neighbourhood/society". Renting an apartment in a compound offers many benefits such as security, maintenance, swimming pool, gym, clubhouse with various facilities, children"s play area and other sporting facilities to name a few. Compounds vary in size, some are gated and others have the convenience of a mini supermarket for groceries, a restaurant or even a mosque. Not all compounds offer apartments for rent as some only have villas. There is a wide variety of compounds in Qatar that suit most budgets and have all kinds of amenities. It is worth asking the agent about any adverts you have seen and checking the amenities with them if you are looking for anything in particular, as sometimes agents do not list all the available amenities in a compound.
Rawdat Al Khail is a district in the Doha municipality situated just outside downtown Doha and is zone 24 of Qatar. It is sometimes called Al Muntazah, but Al Muntazah is actually a part of Rawdat Al Khail. Major roads that serve the district include B-Ring Road, C-Ring Road, Salwa Road (Q5) and Rawdat Al Khail Street and the area is well served by bus routes. There have been extensive plans drawn up for the area as part of the Qatar National Master Plan (QNMP) which is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 Project. The district has been designated as one of 28 District Centres that have been planned to serve their surrounding communities. The plans include provisions to allow greater pedestrian accessibility within the area.
As part of the regeneration plans for the area, Rawdat Al Khail Park, or Al Muntazah Park as it is more commonly known, one of Doha's oldest parks originally constructed in 1980, is undergoing complete reconstruction since 2019 after being closed to the public for over a decade. The huge 14.7-hectare space has been redesigned to meet the needs of the growing local community and will have all the modern features one would expect of a park for the 21st century including various play areas, sporting facilities, cafes and more. There are less than a handful of small educational establishments in the area and this is reflected in the type of housing available for rent in the area which are mainly studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments for rent in residential blocks situated amongst many commercial blocks and retail premises.
