Properties advertised as semi-furnished or partly furnished come with a few furnishings. In Qatar when a property is advertised as semi-furnished or partly furnished this usually means that there are some appliances in the kitchen and sometimes fitted air conditioning units or fitted wardrobes in the bedrooms. This type of home is useful for those not wishing to spend on large kitchen appliances or "white goods" as they are otherwise known. These are typically, items that are somewhat costly to buy and also may require maintenance or a warranty, so it is definitely an added convenience to have peace of mind knowing that if your kitchen appliances ever have a problem, they will be taken care of by the landlord. This convenience is factored in the monthly rental price and semi-furnished or partly furnished homes do cost more to rent, which is expected for the reasons explained.
Umm Salal sometimes spelled Umm Slal, is a municipality in Qatar. The word Umm, in Arabic means mother, while salal refers to large rocks or stones. The area has been given the name "mother of rocks" due to the large rocky formations found in the area. The municipality shares its borders with Al Rayyan to the south, Doha to the Southeast, Al Daayen to the east, Al Khor to the north and Al Shahaniya to the west. The municipality is the only one in Qatar that does not have any coastline.
The northern part of Umm Salal is largely occupied by agricultural land due to the presence of a large aquifer. In the 2015 census, Umm Salal accounted for just over 10% of Qatar's agriculture despite having only a corresponding 3% land size.
The southern part of Umm Salal is home to a town called Umm Salal Mohammed which has numerous farms, wells and a large water reservoir which is filled during the rainy season. The three main industries found in Umm Salal are construction, agriculture and retail. The municipality boasts the largest Mall in Qatar called Doha Festival City or DFC for short. The gigantic mall covers a staggering 244,000m2 and cost just under 6.5 billion Qatari Riyals to build. Umm Salal has in recent years gained popularity as an upcoming area to rent a home in Qatar outside of the capital with access to all the modern conveniences and variations of housing to suit all types of renters.
