Ain Khaled is a district in the Al Rayyan municipality formerly known as "Ain al Seneem" and is situated on the outskirts of Doha, Qatar's capital. The area is historically known for its well "Al Seneem" which served the people of Doha and the neighbouring villages. The word "Ain" is Arabic and is used for natural underground water sources. The district's name was later changed to "Ain Khaled" in respect of a well honoured local who went by the name "Khaled". In 2019 the municipality in conjunction with the Public Parks Department undertook a joint project to redesign the Ain Khaled roundabout in a creative manner. The large roundabout with an area of 1200 square meters was designed to have 600 square meters of artificial grass laid and the remaining 600 square meters decorated in a traditional style with Washingtonia palm trees and pebbles in the Qatari national colours of burgundy and white. In the centre of the roundabout stands a well, representing the "Ain al Seneem well" which is powered by solar panels as are the lights that illuminate the roundabout at night.
The district is home to the Fereej Ain Khaled Stadium managed by the Qatar Olympic Committee. Ain Khaled is a great place for families or couples looking to find accommodation for rent in Qatar outside of the more costly capital Doha. The majority of apartments and villas for rent in the area are located in compounds and gated complexes offering maintenance, security and safe play areas for children with facilities like swimming pools, gyms, sporting facilities and even restaurants – making them ideal for those looking for family or budget friendly rental homes in Qatar.
