Simaisma also spelled Sumaysimah is a small seaside town and district in the municipality of Al Khor. It is located on the eastern coast of Doha and is about 30 kilometres north of the capital Doha. It is known for the historical buildings that can still be found from the pre-oil and gas days of Qatar. Other than the old houses and mosques that one can see, in recent years the local beach and closely located Al Simasima Family Park and Simaisma Olympic Park have been developed. They attract visitors from all over Qatar looking to spend a family day out. The district also benefits from a Resort with villas, restaurants and beautiful facilities.
Simaisma is connected to the main highway in the municipality through Simaisma Road, a 7 kilometre carriageway. There is no public transport in the town. The Simaisma Island Bridge is a 450-meter-long bridge connecting Simaisma's mainland to Simaisma Island. The district is mainly occupied by local residents and there are a few primary schools in the area which serve the local community. Older children continue their Secondary education in the district of Al Khor nearby. There are a few properties for rent in Simaisma available, however most people looking to rent in the municipality often look towards rental properties in Al Khor as the district offer many more options.
