Umm Ghuwailina is a district in the municipality of Doha and zone number 27 of Qatar. The first word of Umm Ghuwailina is the Arabic word for "mother" and is used as a prefix to denote a geographic feature, while ‘ghuwailina" is a derivative of the name of a tree known locally as "ghulan" significant due to its use as camel fodder. Hence, the area's name translates literally to "the mother of ghulan".
The area has good road links with the Ras Abu Aboud Expressway running along the north edge of the district merging with the A-Ring Road further down and the B-Ring Road running along the west edge of the district. Along the east edge of the district runs the C-Ring Road runs and Al Matar Street runs along the south edge of the district whereby the Umm Ghuwailina Metro Station, on the Doha Metro Red Line can be found on the corner where these two roads meet.
